Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Dr. David D. Schein, MBA, JD, Ph.D. is a Professor, Endowed Chair of Management and Marketing and Director of Graduate Programs at the Cameron School of Business at the University of St. Thomas. Dr. Schein is frequently interviewed on employment and business law matters. He speaks for business and industry groups throughout the United States on various current topics. His new book is: Bad Deal for America. He is also the author of The Decline of America: 100 Years of Leadership Failures (2018). He has been quoted in numerous national and local publications, including Forbes and US News and World Reports. In addition to hosting “Saving America” and “Business Law 101” webcasts, he has been interviewed on numerous webcasts and podcasts in the United States and England.

How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?

My book Decline of America covers American Presidents Wilson through Obama. I am working on a new book that will run through Trump and Biden. I also have a musical revue, Novel-T, that is in the advanced development stage and hopefully will be able to be produced as early as Fall 2022 or Spring 2023. My TV series and related fiction-based-on-fact book, A Cheap Education, is in the early development stage.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Bad Deal for America, which deals with the misdeeds of members of the US House of Representatives and Senate was a natural sequel to my Decline of America book.

How do you develop your plots and characters?

Current books are non-fiction. In A Cheap Education, this is based on real circumstances and events but will be modified for dramatic effect.

How do you get inspired to write?

I do not need inspiration. I have a drive inside that causes me to want to write. The only limit is time and trying to make a living at the same time.

What are you currently working on?

This week, I have an academic article in the works on the subject of ESG and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Start writing. It will never happen if you do not start and work at it. Write what you know something about. Before publishing, get a professional editor to review your work.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

I have the opportunity to share my thoughts and opinions with others beyond my friends and students.

Will you have a new book coming out soon?
