Review: A Torn Allegiance By Jen Geigle Johnson

Jen Geigle Johnson wrote A Torn Allegiance, a work of literature that falls within the historical, romance, and interpersonal drama subgenres. Because of its clean themes and material, the work is aimed at a general reading readership. Lady Elsie is our protagonist, an opinionated young woman with progressive views who is assigned to a surveillance mission by her father, the Duke of Shelby. Setting her sights on Prince Hayes Wilhelm, Elsie realizes that this intriguing young man shares her vision for the future and, for the first time, isn’t afraid of her raucous and independent ways.

Jen Geigle Johnson has written a lively and captivating historical Regency novel with lots of love thrills and emotional moments to give its readers. The attention to detail in the manners, social graces, and etiquette of the period, which gave the work a wonderful ambiance that seemed like you were truly transported to the Regency era, was one of the elements that I found particularly astounding about this piece. The conversation was also quite good, displaying the individuals’ unique characteristics while propelling the action ahead in a natural, but also in line with the time’s form of speech. I admired Elsie most for her outspoken opinions, but she was also wise enough to follow society’s standards until the moment was perfect. Overall, I would suggest A Torn Allegiance to anyone who enjoys intriguing people and societal systems, innovative historical methods, and Regency romance.
